Good morning,
I'm writing to enquire about the role of mate mentioned above. I'm a professional sailor with a racing background and roughly 38,000nm of experience as crew, mate and skipper. Most of my previous positions have involved a good deal of training and instruction, including working with clients on race charter, so my leadership and teaching skills are up to the mark. I've a good all round knowledge of systems and maintenance and would have no problem running and organising an entry before the race. What's more, I learned and practiced celestial navigation extensively on a recent voyage from New Zealand to Panama, which included a Southern Ocean leg. I'm fully confident in moon, star and planet sights,as well as taking sights in less than optimal conditions. I only have my YM Offshore at present but I'll be taking my Ocean as soon as I can find the time. Currently I'm working as mate aboard a big Oyster, however I can be available from September onwards with no priof commitments whatsoever after that date. I'm very passionate about the history of sailing, largely the clipper era but also more recent yachting history, having been inspired to go to sea after reading books by the likes of Knox Johnston and Chichester. A Southern Ocean circumnavigation is very much an aspiration of mine, and hence I'd be very keen to find a berth aboard one of the OGR boats. If you would be at all interested in having me aboard, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm happy to send over CV, references, sailing miles and any other information you might require—my email is gwilliams2302@gmail.com. Could you give me a bit more info about the position? Best regards, Greg Williams
